This is my first time on any message board...please be gentle!
5 years ago I set out to purchase a home. It was suggested that we consolidate our credit card debt which was around 18,000. We had good credit and banked with BofA. We went into the bank and met with a loan rep who suggested we take out a Gold Option Loan. I am an educated person, but apparently I am also naive. The loan rep set it up so we had 21,500 on our line of credit (though we only used 18,000. He told us that it would be a 5 year loan (60 months) at 7%. Our payment would be 407.00 a month for 5 years. I specifically asked about the difference between the line of credit and a credit card. He told us that this loan was a set amount, set interest and set repayment term. I took this loan out in 2007. Just after we purchased our home and the purchased showed up on our credit report, I knew something was wrong. I noticed that my balance wasn't going down like it should be. Bank of America boosted our "set" interest rate to 16.99% after we purchased our home. Additionally, I noticed that every month I was being charged over half the payment amount (256.00) in balance transfer fees. I never made balance transfers. Apparently I get charged every month for the initial amount I borrowed. Okay, I understand this, but this is exactly what I asked him - he told me that the interest was figured into the 407.00 payment (256 went to interest and the rest to principal) however, my statements show less than 90.00 going to principal when it should be at least 150.00 I called and tried to get answers from customer service and they told me I misunderstood the loan rep and those were not the terms of the loan. She told me that BofA could raise or lower the interest rate as they see fit. I had all my paperwork and the original loan reps name and branch number. The customer service gal told me he no longer worked for the company and even if I did have paperwork, they couldn't be held responsible for what he told me, as he was "not authorized to make that agreement". Here it is, 4 years later and my balance has gone from 18,000 to 16,988. Each month I am being charged 256.00 in fees. How on earth am I supposed to pay this off? The bottom line is, this is not what I was told. I had paperwork that I thought was set in stone but was not told that the terms were subject to change. I am not a loan officer. I am a teacher. I trust these people, whose profession it is to lend money, to be honest and forthcoming with their terms. Unfortunately I have learned the hard way that you can't trust anyone in the money lending business. I am at a loss. I feel so overwhelmed by this one loan, I am haunted. It seems that there should be something I could do. Did I mention that every time I try to get my interest rate lowered, or my repayment term shortened they take all my financial information and give me figures and timelines. Then, a week or so later a new rep calls me and tells me the other rep shouldn't have offered the ability to renegotiate my terms - "they were not authorized to do this, your type of account doesn't qualify". I am so FRUSTRATED.

Ask me questions. I will tell you the truth from the inside. I am a loan officer with Bank of America and I know first hand what is going on. I am also still employed and will be until I leave. I produce and they have no idea how much I hate them!

This place is a scam! Let me tell you what has happened in the last few weeks. While rates have dropped everywhere BofA has raised their rates about 1.0% higher than others. Today I priced a 15 year loan at 50% LTV and the rate was 4.75%. Are you kidding me? The sad part is that it is only portfolio customers calling in to refi and we are obligated to sell the rate that they offer. SAD. People are being ripped off every day but if I told someone to call around and not take the loan I would be fired. I will BLOW THE WHISTLE on this company in a second! Come try and find me BofA employees on this board, I am smarter than you! I have covered every track and I will continue to tell the evil tales of this bank. Think I am not an employee? I dare you to challenge me. I will find who you are, look in Flagscape and publish your email address and full name! Test me fools! Do you know how to do reverse track IP address searches? I DO!!!!

This bank needs to go down! They are ripping off the same people that are still loyal to them and I cannot sit by and watch anymore! This is the 2nd time I have tried to post this and I have not been published yet. This better make it or this site itself is holding back the truth and on the payroll of the monster!

And please, try and correct me grammatically or with spelling or anything else if that's all you have. I cannot wait to expose this bank for what they are! They should be dechartered and the morons that run the fullfilment centers should all be fired! There are morons behind the scenes and the public is the one who suffers. They cancel 60% of loans that come through at this point and these are people with 740 credit scores and have W-2's and paystubs. To "clean the pipe" they will just cancel loans. I have never worked for a bank that cancels loans and does not want to close loans. Most banks want business, this bank however does not!

Please ask me anything. I will be truthful in all my answers and will expose them for what they are. Ruthless crooks who prey on the people that are still loyal to them. When someone tells me they want to do the loan I want to scream at them and say, "What are you thinking? Call around and be more educated!" But can I do what is moral and correct? Absolutely not or I would be fired. So while I am still there I will tell the story of this bank from the inside like never told before!

Bank of America - racism at local Austin, TX branch

Today was an interesting day. I was reminded that racism was alive and well and that at the end of the day, despite any progress that we have appeared to make as a society, some people still look at your name and treat you accordingly. I've gone by Rod for so long, that I sometimes forget that people will use my very formal name on official documents. Case in point, today I had a money order from some folks that pay me money on a monthly basis. It is from a place called Stripes back home. I am not familiar with it, but it seems legit.

I have been with BofA for 15 years. I have a home mortgage with them. I have a federal paycheck deposited every two weeks into my account. I have a safe deposit box in the branch that I visit. This has been my bank for a long time. So, I deposit these money orders once a month and there has never been a problem until today. I pull up to the drive through and send my deposit in. Fair enough. All of a sudden the teller abrubtly barks at me, "where did you get this money order?" Whoa....what? I asked him why that mattered. He then told me it mattered because he asked. Now friends, who would not immediately be defensive when someone barks a question like that at you? I said it was not his concern where I got it and to just deposit it. He told me to tell him where I got it. I explained to him that I had a renter and that this was their payment. I asked him if he wanted some DNA or maybe a blood sample too.

Next his manager, the branch manager jumps on and demands to know where I got the money order. Whoa again. Didn't I just tell the dude that I got it from a tenant? I am pretty sure I told him that I have deposited said type of money order multiple times at other branches and this branch. So, I told her what does she need to know this for. It is a deposit. She then tells me I have to tell her where I got it. What? I have to tell her where I got it. How would any of you like to have to tell someone where you got your money? By this point, I am pissed. She is being loud, although the speakers are loud on those machines. People with windows open can hear and all the tellers are staring at me. I told her it is no concern and why is she inquiring into my business. Keep in mind, no one has told me what is going on, she just keeps asking where I got it and telling me she needs to know. She finally says that someone has been fraudulently using those money orders. That she has to protect the bank and its customers. WTF? I am one of the banks customers. She said it like I was not a customer. Like I do not keep thousands of dollars in their bank. Like I do not have my home loan with them. So, I immediately tell her that once again, this is money from a tenant. Trustworthy people. That I have deposited that kind of money order before. That the amount is chump change and is just for my account. That I have been with them for 15 years. I am pretty sure I am not going to bail on my account for a few hundred dollars. I explain to this genious of customer service that had she maybe said "sir, we have had some problems with fraud at some of our branches lately with this type of document. We just wanted to verify whether you knew the sender? Do you have any worries this might be a fake money order? We want to protect your interests as a valued customer of our bank?" But no, where did you get this? So she said sorry in the most off-handed way and I told her that her damn apology was not accepted and to deposit my damn money. So, possible fraud, but they deposit anyway. So, they are not just terrible at customer service, but idiots as well. Then the teller just shoots my card back to me. No thank you and have a nice day. Just shoots it back.

So, I am thoroughly pissed now. This is ridiculous. I decide to stop and get the district managers name so I can contact him or her and explain my disgust with the bank. The young lady goes in and gets the number. This chill Latino guy I know that works there named Homer comes out and explains everything to me in a way that was much more friendly and respectful than little white princess did to me. Oh yes, the teller was also little preppy white boy. So, said branch manager comes out. "I wanted to apologize because you are upset." Not because of how I or my teller acted. I told her "no, you basically accuse me of trying to defraud the fucking bank and you think that is acceptable." Yes, friends, I cussed, you would have too being pissed off. Now, I was not yelling. But remember, I am 6'8" and built like a mack truck now. She is a little white girl. I followed up by saying that "I come to deposit my money and you make me look like an ass for doing so and ask me where I got my money from" to which she ordered me out because I used profanity. I explained to her that while she does not have to like it, profanity is protected speech under the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. Just as those crazy religious nuts can say the worst things at funerals for our soldiers, my use of profanity is protected - and yes, I was pissed. She then threatens to call the cops because I am asking for her managers name. She refuses to provide the name. WTF? She will not tell me the name of her manager. Tells me to leave the bank, which I have banked at and where I have a safe deposit box. And makes me out to be the bad guy. Sir, we just asked you one question. Actually, no....he asked me two or three questions then you (branch manager) asked me several more and told me you could demand that information from me. Uncool.

So, I tweeted about it. Add me to your twitter feed @texas_guy36 and you can read them. I called my friend and told him to retweet that. I want to spread the word. Here is the reality my friends. These "white" people did not bother to look at my account. They saw three things, a money order that someone had forged at some other point in time, a Latino named sender, and a Latino named receiver. That was it. My years with the bank. My mortgage. My everything. Irrelevant. Just a Latino name. Fraud. Totally unacceptable approach to discussing it with me. No class. No respect. Protecting the banks customers, as if I was not one of those customers. I immediately left and called customer service. The guy on the line looked at my account and immediately apologized and said that is not how BofA should treat long standing customers. He said there were no alerts, no flags, and not one trace of fraud in my file. I am a valued, mortgage holding customer.

So, idiot manager? Poor training? Or how about some deep rooted racist tendency? Latino names on something that they had seen forged before, so therefore it must be fake. Yet they still deposited it. WTF? So here is the person

kendall dean

look at that name. Kendall Dean protecting the bank's customers from the evil latino who was depositing a money order into an account with thousands of dollars in it. Wow, that few hundred might break the bank. We better make sure he is not scamming us. What total and complete bullshit!

Yes, I am ranting. Sorry about that, but I am still incredibly pissed. You see, no matter how hard you work, no matter how much you sacrifice, no matter how much you give, you are still one of them. To some people, we are just Mexican. They see our name and that is it. My PhD, who gives a shit. Being a veteran, unimportant. Being a long time customer, why bother checking to see if this is a valued customer. Yes, we are still the enemy in some people's eyes. I had not had it happen to me, until today. And I am damned pissed off about it.

I would never think in this country a bank could get away with what it does. After receiving loan modification letters a few years back, the Obama program, Bank of American sent me loan statements with a modified amount to pay monthly while they approve the loan modification. During this time, the last couple years, we have contacted Bank of America regarding late fees they were assesing for the underpaid amounts they told us to pay. When we called they said don't worry about it, that is how it works and we will work it out once the paperwork goes through. Needless to say, after sending everything multiple times and years later they claimed we were not approved. So, they decided to charge us $ 70 per month per month because of what we short paid(per their letter). Trying to fix this with them has been impossible, it's been impossible to re-finance and no one will help. Now they declare us in default, even though we have paid every month the amount they stated per this program. Now they want us to go to their home loan modification office and deal with them. Is anyone else in this situation? It's is unamerican and unethical. It's making hard working people loose everything they worked for. Thanks

I've been the advocate of the customer. I've been overall - the bi-polar BOA employee. Here's what I mean. I remember coming in all fresh and excited to start my career with the bank. So proud to tell people where I worked. So proud to help our customers to show them why they are valued. I remember the lies I've had to cover - I remember the first time we were told to "clean house." I remember the first time I vomited in the parking lot of work because I didn't believe in what I was being asked to do. I have had the shrink sessions, the pills, the ER visits. I've had the recognition and the happy customers.

So, as you can see I've had the good and the bad.

The bottom line is - yes. There are tactics to weed out people. And yes – there are toxic “leaders.” And yes - we are a for profit company that says they care about their customers - translation – we care about their money.

What happened to being happy? What happened to people just going to work and coming home proud of that day’s accomplishments? What happened to treating each other with respect? It's time, my friends! This is counter-productive.....ding ding ding !!!! It's HR 101 for God sake ! No human being can be expected to effectively produce under these conditions long term. During my brief employment, I took notice to the overall health of those who had been there for more than 5 years. Obesity, COPD (which can be a terminal illness), high blood pressure, fibro-myalgia, bulging discs, sleep deprivation, shingles, prescription narcotic addiction and worst of all.......an extreme sense of self entitlement. One way or the other, the constant stress from unreasonable expectations for production WILL eventually kill you.

I am by no means an authority on the subject however I have worked and studied in the healthcare field and my boyfriend is a physician.

So here I sit fighting with the CEO's office of B.O.A after 4+ years of trying to get something done. I am finally being heard by the people who make the calls, and they are attempting to slam me. My one and only request was have this foreclosure removed from my credit report, as I have offered viable proof that errors were made on B.O.A's behalf. I've been dealing with a woman by the name of Alaina Underwood who works for B.O.A's office of the CEO. Ms. Underwood proceeds to tell me that the only way BOA will take action to fix my credit, is if it is proven there were mistakes made. My next question is, does being incompetent classify as a mistake(s) being made? Let me start off by saying; I followed protocol to the letter, first by listing my home for short sale, in which I in turn had an offer placed, and ultimately an attempt to modify, neither of which worked out in my benefit. The initial short sale offer on my home was made by a potential buyer on 9/25/09 and I still hadn't heard a yay or nay from B.O.A as of February 5th 2010. Below is documentation of the correspondence (or lack thereof) that transpired between my agent and B.O.A:

Friday 9/25/09

Lender has received the full package and is getting the file set up – it is still pending assignment to a negotiator – which I was told should be done by this coming Wednesday. I have asked for any type of escalation possible, and was told there is nothing more they can do at this point. Just need to wait until a neg. is assigned and they will order the BPO and get the process rolling. As soon as we do have info for the rep assigned I will push them to move quickly.

Friday 10/2/09

Lender has received the full package and is getting the file set up – it is still pending assignment to a negotiator – As of today – I did finally get a rep to open a “work order” (their form of escalating the issue) to get the file assigned to a negotiator. I’ll follow up early next week to see if this escalation has worked. Hopefully we can get this thing on someone’s desk and get it rolling!

Friday 10/9/09

Lender has received the full package and is getting the file set up – Per my call 10-9-09 the file has been assigned to a processor - Patrick. Was told he was assigned same day the package was rec'd and set up - she wasn't sure why reps had been telling me it wasn't assigned. She couldn't give me any more information for him however at this point. I did make sure the rep documented the system with both our info and Kevin's info for any BPO's that need to be ordered. That took 2 months. Another friend got it only a month before I ordered my replacement on my recommendation because he liked them so much.
Today I worked all day, working my butt off trying to get things done and organized on a monday where we have a whole bunch of merchants, night drop, atm, and all that stuff going on with just 2 tellers because we are under-staffed. Then my new manager of a month pulls me aside and says she's letting me go because I made a deposit to an out of state account with a bank of america check that was a loss to the bank.

They tell me AFTER I've worked all day, doing all the stuff that nobody else was doing, and I've worked there for a year. They also told me what i was supposed to do with the check that I never even knew that that was how that deposit was supposed to be handled. And I read the PRO thing and it said potential termination, but the loss was over a certain amount so she talked to the Market and they decided to terminate me.

Doesn't this seem a little unfair to anybody else but me? That i'm terminated for depositing a BOA check and I somehow did it wrong even though nobody told me that I was doing it wrong?

Before any of my current or post-abused coworkers read my boasux blog, please know that the EEOC (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Comission) is your new BFF...

Of course no company is expected in anyway to be forced to employ ANYONE whatsoever-especially in Right to Work States such as mine. However it is illegal to discriminate against any protected group based on race, age, sex, etc we all know where posted signs are, and at some boa BC's that is where EEO ends after signing the form that 'at least you know where the EEO signs are posted'. I wouldn't say I was just an employee for boa for two years too long, but an employee that was ripped up, rang-out, and leaving with the gift of the fact that I never have to pull up to boa again to overwork hours on end, in an unfair, unequal work environment. I have been reading through associates posts on this site for well over a year now, and for the most part everyone's outcries are forthcoming truths' being told that are real and grim realities that an associate is faced with each day he or she steps into boa workplaces across the board.

Favoritism happens period. But afterwhile, enough is enough and this is MY boasuxxs. I was a part-time teller for over 2 yrs with boa, in college the entire plus time, L1 in every single sales/referal quarter while employed, and accurately balanced and prosessed data and transactions all fun day long... Just so happens that since January 2009 all of my (BC) managers are black/african-american, and the rest of the staff are black/african-american as well as asian, white, latino/hispanic, european, etc. It never failed, 'break' is a word unknown at my boa, unless you HAPPENED to be black/afrian-american and coffee break(s) literally were 35-45 mins for you OR locking-up and walking over to an open desk with a chair was at your disposal to call all those people that 'no other' teller with the exact same job description and title could figure out? Why is he SITTING in a CHAIR laughing on the phone as he is drinking his coffee. My water has been gone for 3 hrs, what? WHY?
Meantime, while 'all others' screamed to go to restroom as our badders burst and if gone for 3 pushing 4 mins you will be coached. Another Unequal Unopportunity the black management would deny me and 'all others' was internet access while amoungst the racial groups we were all JUST tellers. Equal Employment Opp became a sign that chased me out of the breakroom doors while fleeing a stopwatched restroom 'break'.

After standing over 10 hours everysingle friday (30 min lunch)and shortly to return every single saturday with no day off except that tuesday 3 weeks ago- Or was in a month ago? These luxuries shared amoungst "equal"black coworkers combined such as chairs, longer lunches, breaks period, INTERNET, days off, accomodating school schedules for all black tellers who were hired WAY AFTER I AND ALL OTHER Racial groups is discrimination. And no one is brave enough to ask WTF is going on here???!!! I did approach management with my school conserns and asked what happened to the PART TIME agreement between me and my unequal employer. Do these things occur at any or all BC's? That question is why I wrote this boasuxx after customers notice and mention they see discriminatory racially fused workplace events consistantly happening. I'm just curious, oh and yes, I was terminated when I balanced - 2 dollars yes (2.00) Its just to much, thanks to all

BOA forced us to renew homeowners insurance on vacant house. BOA is forcing us to get vacant policy also. State Farm needs time period of foreclosing. BOA can't and won't talk to us.
My hubby makes $130k a year. We tried to sell house but it won't sell for what we need. Realtors won't touch the house. Such a beautiful house in central CA. We kept trying to make payments on mortgage, student loans, credit cards, car and new house in AL.
BOA issued warnings about foreclosure for one year then they changed the locks. BOA claims they have rights to enter that vacant house for "maintenance".
I hope someone pops the air out of the BOA company Porsche

They don't want to listen, no to mention take any actions. FBI is working on this case, meanwhile, fraudsters continue to steal money from the people. Accounts remain open. Not only BOA denied to take any actions, but also, they denied to even call those people. I have multiple proofs that this is identity theft, they just don't care. Hope FBI will make them move, however, I will certainly recommend all my friends to stay away from BOA.

No one forced you to apply for a credit card.
No one forced you to activate and use your credit card.

YOU WILLINGLY PUT YOURSELF IN THE SITUATION YOU'RE IN.

You should be grateful that Bank of America let you BORROW (key word here, kids) funds. You are not entitled to a credit card/credit line. It's something that you must earn and maintain in good standing. Just because they initially gave you a credit card with a $10,000 limit doesn't mean that's it's going to stay that way for life. Keep in mind that credit analysts that determine APRs can see your entire credit profile. This includes your external revolving debt, FICO, payment history, etc. Bank of America has the right to lower your credit line to whatever they feel is suitable based on your credit profile.

Think of it this way...would you let someone borrow money if you knew there was a chance that they wouldn't ever pay you back? I'm sure most of you wouldn't unless you're stupid. Now, would you let someone borrow money that was having trouble paying other people back? No, right? If Bank of America wanted to fall under like many other big banks have, they'd leave all of your credit limits where they are regardless of your irresponsibility with money that is NOT yours. They'd also waive every late fee, every over limit fee and reinstate and extend promotional rates for everyone. Yay! Let's all be irresponsible and then call BOA so they can wipe my @ss and hold my hand through my financial struggle! woo! A promotional rate is just that, a promotional rate! If BOA extended everyone 0.00% rates and reinstated them every time they expired you wouldn't even have the luxury of even having a credit card! BOA would be struggling to stay afloat.

Please keep in mind that BOA will waive a late fee or two depending on the situation as a courtesy. Not because they have to but because they understand that we're all human and we all are forgetful at times and make mistakes. After your first late payment/fee you should all be more concerned with making payments on time. You can make payments online, through the mail, over the phone and in banking centers! There is no excuse. I understand that seeing a late fee on your account is upsetting (it's happened to me before but I clearly understood that it was MY FAULT) but it's no one's fault but your own. You had time to charge your card but you couldn't make a minimum payment?

Yes, I work for BOA and I love my job. At times it can be frustrating trying to calm down irrational customers but not every customer is an angry one. A lot of calls that I get are positive calls and guess what? There are customers out there who take responsibility for their actions! I know, I know. They should be role models for you greedy people that want want want but can't own up to your mistakes. Yelling at the people on the other end of the phone who are there to HELP you will not get you anywhere. Demanding customers will also never get anywhere; at least not with me.

The next time you think about calling the number on the back of your card because of something negative that YOU caused on your credit...

STOP, calm yourself down and think about who is really to blame.

Oh and stop threatening to take your business to Citi Bank because they're offering you a promotional offer for 0.00% because if you REALLY had that promotional offer you would have taken it right away wouldn't you?

I have been a home loan customer for ten years. In this ten years I have never been late or missed a payment. I went to the hospital a few months ago and missed my payment. Got behind one month and used the money to pay part of the bill. Now iI am one month late and can not catch up until next month. I tried to tailk to a rep. today and he informed me that I could not take advantage of the low interest rates that are now available My payments are $942.00 each month. With the equitiy build up in my home my refinance would drop to $546.00 each month. Big savings right. Was informed that I was considered a high rate rink and could not refinace because I had missed a 1 payment in 10 years, I would have to wait another 12 months befor I could refinance. WHAT KIND OF SENSE DOES THAT MAKE. I could save enought in saving on interest rate payment and be caught up. Make it easy on both me and BOA. Commom sense in America in gone. Just a little thinking here would settle this. You say catch up with that payment next month. Still have to wait 12 months till I could refinance. By that 12 months I would have save an additional $6484.00 if they would have just refinanced this mortage. THIS ISN'T THAT HARD TO FIGURE OUT.

Here's one-While I was unemployed in 2009, after listening to Obama's "we want Americans to stay in their homes" speeches, I decided to call BOA to check it out. The woman stated that I qualified and would receive the application in 4-6wks, which, of course, I did not. Meanwhile, thankfully, I got a job and started back to work so then I did not need to pursue it any further. What I did not know was that by simply calling for information I was put into a "bad credit" category.

Also, they set up an escrow account to pay for my property taxes, which I had already paid. I called BOA and told them that I had never received or signed the application and to please change my account status. They said they were very sorry, no problem, they would take care of it. Meanwhile, I was locked out from making a payment on line. Next month, same thing again! Nothing had been done! Big surprise! Called them again. Again, sorry, we'll take care of it. Next month, same thing, and the month after that and the month after that. Took 5 months!

Then in June 2011 I paid online and BOA decides they are going to help themselves to another payment out of my account. Instead of one payment, they took out TWO. Oh, very sorry, bank error, we'll return the funds to your account.

But they did not. I kept calling and calling. Who in working-class America today can afford to have an extra thousand taken out of their account due to bank error? Took 14 days to get my money back! Also, I had 70.00 in insufficient funds fees which they said thet would send me a check for which I still haven't gotten.

Now they are saying that my flood insurance is inadequate and have purchased a policy for me. They have now started applying my mortgage payments to this policy and therefore are calling my account delinquent and have thus reported me to the credit bureau. I just can't sit by and do nothing while this bank charged their own loyal customers almost 1.0% higher than they could get elsewhere. What a travesty.
