B of A Call Center - Health Hazard
  • B of A corporate culture and management style is a health hazard ! If you subject people to a stressful enviroment, they will behave and decline as such. This is counter-productive.....ding ding ding !!!! It's HR 101 for God sake ! No human being can be expected to effectively produce under these conditions long term. During my brief employment, I took notice to the overall health of those who had been there for more than 5 years. Obesity, COPD (which can be a terminal illness), high blood pressure, fibro-myalgia, bulging discs, sleep deprivation, shingles, prescription narcotic addiction and worst of all.......an extreme sense of self entitlement. One way or the other, the constant stress from unreasonable expectations for production WILL eventually kill you.

I am by no means an authority on the subject however I have worked and studied in the healthcare field and my boyfriend is a physician.
  • Yup, where I used to work, I managed to get strep throat not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES working in that unhealthy environment.
  • I've been there for 11 years and have missed maybe 10 days of work in 11 years for illness. What the hell does working in a call center have different than any other large office, or even a retail environment where you face customers all the time, face to face?

Give it a rest, and get back to work! You're costing us money!!
  • Don't forget the "period" chairs with blood stains in them that they had us sitting in.

I worked there until I was fired last week.  Stress was enough to induce a TIA (stroke)

I hear that maggots thrive in a cesspool...

Yet you are posting in a discussion forum during work hours. Yea, that's being productive isn't it? What a joke this guy is.
  • Health Hazard RIGHT ON!  All the maladies you mentioned are completely accurate. Even restroom breaks are timed/monitored.

    Dearest "BossMan":

Something to consider...Are you a bully/toxic Boss?? Give
a thought...Maybe it's time to re-evaluate and also, understand that
bullies/toxic bosses are clever at covering their lies and inadequacies...but
soon, you will be a part of some grand law suit - I'm sure of it. And as the
    defendant.
    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It's important for leadership to recognize bullying in the environment by leadership.  If you take a look, you will see unusually high levels of the following:
     staff turnover
    sickness absence
    grievance action
    disciplinary action
    stress breakdown
    suicide or attempted suicide
    death in service
    customer complaints
    ill health retirements
    early retirements
    reorganizations

Howdy, Stranger!
